West Launceston Bathrooms
The Project:
Beautifully set within a leafy position in West Launceston, sits our clients heritage listed Victorian home. We were invited to re-design the previously updated bathroom and ensuite to pay homage to the era of the property.
Working closely with client, who shared an interest for classic interiors and intricate design detailing, set a clear design direction from the beginning of the project. The spaces were to contrast in visual appeal while still holding some continuity in overall aesthetic.
We incorporated period elements into both spaces including the basket weave mosaic tiles, marble skirting, wainscotting and classic vanity designs. We decided to create contrast through a light vs dark palette, using a Carrara marble herringbone wall tile in the main bathroom and a Nero Marquina herringbone for the darker ensuite. A Victorian inspired patterned grasscloth wallpaper adorned the walls of the ensuite, while a Dulux muted green was used to create a sense of elegance tranquillity in the main bathroom. Both spaces share the classic Antique Brass tapware by Faucet Strommen.
A large central island that was designed to facilitate point of sale but also house additional storage, was covered in gorgeous Pink Rhino Marble with a curved waterfall end. A feminine statement pendant hangs above the island, with alcove LED strip lighting and ceiling mounted directional track lighting designed to showcase the ceramics. Oak timber floor planks and custom designed joinery adds warmth, while the zelliege tiled plinths add a pop of colour and an opportunity for an adjustable window display. Aged Brass Capri handles by Lo & Co and a blush pink sheer curtain add the final touches and a sense of playfulness.
Oversized skylights were installed within both spaces, adding to the grandeur of the rooms and glass and stone wall sconces were used for ambient and task lighting.
