Noss & Co
The Project:
Symmetrie was engaged by founder of Noss & Co, Kirsty Morrison, to re-imagine her existing ceramics shop in historic Evandale, within a new premises in Launceston’s CBD. Kirsty saw this as an opportunity to breathe new life to the brand, through a contemporary shop that reflected her business and products.
Inspired by the Noss pieces themselves which are vibrant, colourful and completely unique - Symmetrie set out to create a space that was exactly that. We wanted to design a boutique that not only sparked joy for her customers but stood out from surrounding shops.
The existing space was essentially a blank canvas, with only a couple of heritage listed aspects to consider within the new design. Symmetrie developed a concept with a focus on neutral toned, refined textured materials to allow the ceramics to really pop. The existing brick walls were painted with an off white lime wash and curved alcove shelving was designed to be finished with a textured microcement.
A large central island that was designed to facilitate point of sale but also house additional storage, was covered in gorgeous Pink Rhino Marble with a curved waterfall end. A feminine statement pendant hangs above the island, with alcove LED strip lighting and ceiling mounted directional track lighting designed to showcase the ceramics. Oak timber floor planks and custom designed joinery adds warmth, while the zelliege tiled plinths add a pop of colour and an opportunity for an adjustable window display. Aged Brass Capri handles by Lo & Co and a blush pink sheer curtain add the final touches and a sense of playfulness.
White painted timber profiling was added to the original glass fronted facade, to create a continuity with surrounding shops while the ‘Petite Pink’ signage adds a point of difference and speaks truly to Kirsty’s brand.
Noss & Co on George Street was unlike anything Symmetrie had the pleasure of working on and now welcomes Kirsty’s customers with vibrancy, colour and lots of fun.
